Starting Out Again

This will be my opening post on a brand new blog, brand new Learning Log, for the OCA Level Two 'Progressing with Digital Photography'.  I have received my course notes, had a read through, been in touch with my tutor, so now raring to go.

I must say that, on an initial reading, this looks like the best put together of all the OCA modules that I've done.  The overall aims of preparing the student to produce images of professional standards and developing an understanding of professional practice are certainly attractive to me, and I can see how the course should deliver on those objectives.  Apart from finding the time amongst other commitments, I don't have too many concerns at this stage, and I'm looking forward to experiencing the improvement and development that I believe will come from this course.  I'm still completing the Level One 'People & Place' (link on here to that blog), with the final assignment on-going, so I will be working on the two in parallel for a time, with P&P to be assessed in July this year.  My long-term timescale for this module is to have it ready for assessment in November 2013, meaning that I aim to take around 18 months to complete.

This post is chiefly here to get the blog started.  The first section of the course is an assignment - 'Your own neighbourhood' - and I have some thoughts about how I'd like to approach it, but more on that later, including some relevant observations on an exhibition that I saw last weekend ...
